Flourish: A Journal of Progressive Ministry

Now Available

We’re thrilled to announce the creation of Flourish: A Journal of Progressive Ministry, a new resource equipping and inspiring those engaged in faithful, progressive, and forward-moving ministry with youth, children, and young adults. Rooted in a commitment to justice, inclusion, and compassion in the ways of Jesus, Flourish fosters critical reflection, practical innovation, and transformative ministry practices that nurture both people and the planet.

Each issue features:

πŸ”Ή Theological Praxis Essays – Deep reflections grounded in theology and theory that guide leaders in shaping their ministry approach for justice, inclusion, compassion, and creation care.
πŸ”Ή Reflective Ministry Practices – Theologically grounded practical tools, liturgies, discussion guides, and ministry strategies for real-world contexts.
πŸ”Ή Book Reviews – Critical insights into essential ministry resources and essential scholarship.

Our managing editor, Dr. Wesley Ellis along with the Flourish editorial board, are now accepting submissions and invite scholars, ministry leaders, and practitioners to contribute. We welcome theological essays, practical ministry reflections, and resource-driven articles that engage progressive, inclusive, and justice-oriented approaches to faith formation. Submissions should offer innovative insights, challenge existing paradigms, or provide tangible resources for those ministering to emerging generations.

The inaugural print issue of Flourish: A Journal of Progressive Ministry (released November 2025) explored the theme Defiant Hope, first introduced at the 2024 Progressive Youth Ministry Conference. Digital mini issues are released quarterly with one major print issue each fall.
