From Pews to Policy: A Field Lab for Mobilizing Churches for (Youth) Advocacy [Pre-Conference Intensive]

$50.00

Prior to the official start of PYM, join us for a hands-on, 3-hour workshop for congregational leaders ready to mobilize their people, across generations, for public change that protects and uplifts young people. What does it look like when a church shows up, not just with statements, but with people—teens and elders, lay leaders and clergy—organized, prepared, and speaking with conviction and clarity?

In this fast-moving field lab, you’ll step inside the Texas Statehouse—one of the nation’s most watched battlegrounds for public policy and public witness—to learn on the ground with Texas Impact, an interfaith policy network that has been equipping faith communities for public witness since 1973.

You’ll learn the skills they use to engage lawmakers, and you’ll build a simple, repeatable plan to take home so your congregation can advocate for issues that matter to young people where you live: School safety, juvenile justice, mental health access, homelessness, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and more.

Walk out with concrete steps and proven tools to move your congregation from amen to action, including ways to draw youth into leadership that are ethical, safe, and genuinely empowering.

You'll leave with:

  • A 6-week congregation-ready action plan tailored to a local issue.

  • A 120-second personal story script that invites people to care—and act.

  • Templates and tools: meeting request email, lobby-day checklist, follow-up script, sample one-pager, testimony outline, media & social guide.

  • Youth participation safeguards: consent forms, safety guidelines, role options for minors, and care plans for debriefing after public actions.

  • A replicable team model for pairing adults and youth as co-leaders in advocacy.

MEETS FROM 8:00 - 11:00 AM on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13. Details about meet-up location will be sent 2 weeks prior to the conference.

** LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 30 PEOPLE **
